The huge diversity of natural forms and landscapes in Bulgaria provides variety of possibilities for those who like (or need) to raise their adrenaline levels. 

Vratsata Gorge


     

Cliff climbing is among the most popular extreme sports in Bulgaria with rich history and traditions. The perfect natural features will let you practice and gain new skills at some of the most breathtaking places in the country.



     With its 272 routes (for alpine climbing, sport climbing, bouldering, traditional climbing, ice climbing) Rila mountain attracts the biggest number of climbers. In Vitosha mountain (just next to the capital Sofia) you can find 156 routes in 9 climbing regions, including three 2200+m peaks and a 25 m waterfall for ice climbing. Vratsata gorge in the outskirts of the city of Vratsa has the highest vertical cliffs on the Balkans that reach 400 meters. With its over 90 alpine routes Vratsata gorge is one of the most popular places for climbing in Bulgaria.



     The fans of skydiving and paragliding will find different suggestions to soar in the sky in almost every part of the country. Bungee jumping can be practiced at 8 popular places on the seaside and in the inland regions as well. The highest jump - 120 metres is from the viaduct "Bebresh" in the Vitinya pass - 60 km from the capital Sofia.


 






The Black sea with its wonderfull beaches gives you the chance to turn your summer vacation into an extreme adventure. Kitesurfing with its varieties is getting more and more popular every year. Favorable places for that sport are the cities of Varna and Burgas, campings Gradina, Smokinya and Cosmos, Primorsko and other seaside resorts. 

 











     As a country with extensive mountain ranges Bulgaria can satisfy the needs of adrenaline of all those extreme skiers and snowboarders that avoid using the processed ski tracks.

Those who like mountain biking wouldn't be disappointed after they try some of the many bike routes in the country. The nature itself gives opportunities to practice all the main types of this sport (Downhill, Cross-country, Four-cross, Freeride, Trial). There are more that 100 marked routes and new ones are being created.
