Dobrinishte

     Dobrinishte

     Area and Location
This small town in Blagoevgrad region is situated just 6 km east of Bansko and 156 km south of Sofia, in a deep valley between Rila, Pirin and the Rhodopes mountains.

     Transport
By car, the distance from Sofia is taken for approximately 2:30 hours through Blagoevgrad. There are regular buses from two of Sofia’s bus stations: Central and Ovcha kupel. If you are not in a hurry, there is another, more imaginative way to reach Dobrinishte – via the narrow-gauge railway with its retro wagons from the time of the last Bulgarian monarchy, winding through the mountains. That way you can see the highest railway station on the Balkan peninsula and the place where Marilyn Monroe has started her reserve for dancing bears.

Dobrinishte’s skiing tracks have 7 km length. The longest of those is 5 km, 25-30 m wide, suitable for slalom and giant slalom. Starting point is Bezbog Hut, finish – at Goce Delchev Hut. Displacement between both is 826 m. Those who are as green as grass in skiing may try the tracks by Bezbog Hut, while Tumbata and especially Stenata tracks are suitable for experienced skiers – Stenata is a black track, connecting the two low stations of the skiing lift. Costs of skiing cards for the whole ski zone in 2012-2013 season are as follows: half day – 20 leva, 1 day – 28 leva, 3 days – 65 leva, 6 days – 110 leva.
Available are ski wardrobe and ski school. At the wardrobe you can hire full complects, skis, skiing shoes, ski sticks, snowboards and snowboard shoes.
Accommodation on spot includes several chalets. Goce Delchev Hut is situated at the Logoveto area, at 11 km from Dobrinishte, at an elevation of 1412 m. Here is the starting point of the two-seat lift to Bezbog Hut. By the station there is parking lot for 100 cars. Two skiing lifts with length of 3200 m lead to Bezbog.
Bezbog Chalet is close by the Bezbog lake, at an elevation of 2236 m – this is the highest chalet on the Balkan peninsula.
In the town of Dobrinishte itself, there is a good choice for accommodation in hotels like Dobrinishte, Orbel Spa, Valentino. From here during the winter there is regular transportation to the skiing tracks.
