Apollonia

Apollonia Art Foundation was established in 1991 succeeding the Academy of Art, founded in 1984. For almost 20 years the Foundation is producing two of the most renowned annual festivals in Bulgaria – the Spring Musical Festival in Sofia and the Apollonia Festival of Arts in Sozopol (Southern Black Sea Coast). Apollonia is a Non Governmental Organisation, supported by sponsorship only.

The Spring Musical Festival is held in April and consists of seven concerts - chamber music and jazz. The selection goes from classical to contemporary music; new works included are often national or world premieres.

The first Apollonia Festival of Arts was held in Sozopol in 1984. Sozopol is among the oldest Bulgarian towns, and Apolonia - its ancient name. Art people – artists, musicians, writers, poets, actors and architects, are a significant part of the regular visitors. The unique atmosphere of the city is a true inspiration for creative work. The Festival's main goal is to show the whole variety of achievements in Bulgarian art; to preserve tradition and to support new ideas, the experimental and unusual vision in all art types.
