Leshten

Leshten is a pretty, picture-postcard village, northeast of Gotse Delchev, in the very western highlands of Rhodope Mountain. The village is an architectural and ethnographic reserve with thirty traditional homes. All of the houses are built in traditional architectural style which was typical for Old Bulgarian mountainous villages.
The rentable part of the village includes 15 of all 30 houses. That means that you can rent the whole house or only a room of it. There are rooms with bedroom suits and room with one or two separate beds. Some of the hoses have living rooms in it with all extras. The houses are equipped with telephones, TV sets and other modern facilities. There are two taverns with 50 seats each. Bulgarian folklore music makes the atmosphere very authentic. The two taverns serve delicious traditional meals and are wholly supplied by the personal farm of the owners.
Leshten offers various types of entertainment to its guests, such as hunting and fishing, mountain hiking, trips to the nearby spa village Ognyanovo (5 km), the ethnographic complexes of Kovachevitsa (7 km), Dolen (20 km) and Delchevo (18 km), as well as one-day tours to the impressive Rozhen Monastery near the town of Melnik or the popular ski resort Bansko. Once in Leshten, tourists can also visit the Dark Forest natural reserve with centuries' old beech and fir trees, remains of two Thracian sanctuaries - the Goat's Stone and the Black Rock, Kanina River's canyon, etc.
