The monument of the Asen dynasty undoubtedly is the most notable monument in Veliko Tarnovo which is dedicated to the kings Asen, Petar, Kaloyan and Ivan Asen II. The name of the dynasty comes from one of the brothers, Asen. It was built in 1985 for the 800th anniversary of the uprising of the brothers Asen and Petar. The sword, around which are placed the four rulers, symbolizes the power and the rising of medieval Bulgaria. The place really worth visiting, on the one hand, to feel the power of these Bulgarian tsars and the other - to enjoy the magnificent panoramas that are revealed there.
