Bulgaria has surprisingly rich cultural life. Concerts, performances, exhibitions are concentrated mainly in Sofia and the other larger cities, while small towns and villages offer intricately diverse and extremely interesting festivals dedicated mainly to the wonderful traditional Bulgarian folklore, but also to other typically Bulgarian things: roses, yogurt, cherries, rakia, pastries and many more. Significant priority over almost any other country in Europe is that tickets and admission fees for those events are much cheaper. And even though some forms are not quite accessible for foreigners - like theatre performances which are only in Bulgarian language - Bulgarians will welcome you with open arms everywhere in their country.
