"Belvedere Bulgaria" Ltd. is founded in 1992 as a part of the holding structure Belvedere Group France. It owns some of the biggest wine producers in Bulgaria - the wineries "Domein Menada" in Stara Zagora and "Sakar" in Lubimets.
Wine-growing and wine-producing have been among the main occupations for this sunny region of Bulgaria ever since ancient times. Love for our land and wine form the foundations of wine-producing traditions, passed on from generation to generation. Between the foot of the Surnena Sredna Gora in the north and the slopes of Rhodope Mountains and Sakar in the south, more than 18 000 decares of vineyards are put aside as the source of our wine. Fertility of the land feeds off the tributaries of the Maritsa, Tundzha and the Arda River. The exposure is mostly to the south and south-west, and the altitude is between 170 and 260 metres.
A unique asset is the local air draught that does not allow for the hold-up of cold in winter months, and as a result freezing is extremely rare. The soil and climate conditions there are ideal for grape ripening. The region is characterized with a sub-continental climate, temperatures favour the build-up of sufficient quantities of sugar and acids, lending the requisite harmony to the wine.
The "Cabernet Sauvignon" and "Merlot" varieties, cultivated in the region, are distinguished with a consistent ruby colour and a juicy fruit aroma. Wines are thick, soft and harmonious. They have a marked southern nature. Wine aging takes place in casks made of Strandzha and Californian and French oak.
The wines exported by "Belvedere Bulgaria" are well accepted in Poland, Germany, Great Britain, Finland, Russia, Latvia, Czech, Slovakia and other countries. In the beginning of the year, the newest wine collection "Chateau Menada" was presented in Poland. The red wines "Oriahovitza" are the best sold Bulgarian wines in Finland. The company started to develop markets in Sweden and Danmark.
