Damianitza

Damianitza (established in 1940) is located in Southwest Bulgaria - one of the best wine regions in the country - Struma River Valley. This is the sunniest and the hottest Bulgarian viticultural region with hilly terrain and soils of volcanic origin, which are most suitable for grape growing.
Damianitza produces wines from the indigenous local variety Shiroka Melnishka Loza (Broad Leaved Vine of Melnik), known also as Melnik, as well as wines from the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet franc etc.
Daminaitza's various product categories from the No Man’s Land family are intended for a diverse consumer group and various occasions and moods. No Man's Land black label is the ultimate in Bulgaria wine production. The grapes were carefully selected and are hand picked at optimal ripeness. Following a process of skin contact, the juice is drained. The wine is left to age in French and Bulgarian oak barrels for 11 months. Barrel fermentation and lees contact increases the aroma and flavour complexity.
With the Uniqato line the team of Damianitza aims to show superb wines from less known Bulgarian grape varieties, bearing unique style. Uniqato Melnik - grape comes from vineyards with shapely slopes and light sandy soils. Wine has aged in Bulgarian and French barrels for 9 months. Limited release, only 51 117 bottles. Suitable for ageing. Uniqato Rubin - grapes were picked at ultimate ripeness to obtain better concentration of flavors. The lots were fermented at different temperature and pump-over regimes. Redark is Damianitza's premier wine, made from hand-picked grapes selected at optimal ripeness. The hot and dry summer of South-Western Bulgaria produced grapes of superbly concentrated aromas and a dramatic, purple-red color.
